Browns QB Quinn was fined for hitting Ravens LB Suggs

The Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn apologized for his low hit on Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. He accepted league fine and understands why the Ravens were mad.

“I can see why they’d be upset,” he said. “But again, he wasn’t even in my vision. I was trying to get to the ball. He cut across my face as I was already try to jump down for the tackle.”

Monday night’s 16-0 win over the Browns seemed not enough to the Ravens to vent their anger with Suggs’ being injured. Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis accused Quinn of a cheap shot, and Ravens Coach John Harbaugh said he was “disappointed” with Quinn’s block and that “there was no reason” for it.

But Quinn maintains that he did not mean to hurt any one wearing Ravens jersey. He was just trying to bring down cornerback Chris Carr, but carelessly dropped his head and threw his body into Suggs’ right knee. And Browns coach Eric Mangini believes Quinn means what he said.

Quinn did not disclose the size of his fine, and plans to reach out to Suggs again.
