With more than 3,000 tickets remained on Thursday, the Cincinnati Bengals supposed they would face their first blackout since 2003. Fortunately, they got a one-day extension form the NFL and managed to sell enough tickets during the extension to avoid the blackout.
Originally it was surprising to many people that the 4-1 Bengals, who is also on sole possession of first place in the AFC North, will be blacked out locally. They have sold out 46 straight regular-season and postseason games, and the last regular-season game black out was on Nov. 9, 2003 when they played against the same team they will face in this Sunday’s game-the Houston Texans.
But this time the Bengals will keep its streak intact. With assist from Motorola and receiver Chad Ochocinco, the blackout will not happen this weekend. As a longtime Bengals sponsor who has a partnership with Ochocinco, Motorola bought 1,200 tickets and will give them away Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium.
