Walnut City Council approved NFL stadium development

During a closed session Tuesday night, City Council members of Walnut voted 3-1 to approve a legal settlement in exchange for dropping objections to a proposed NFL stadium development in a neighboring Southern California city.

According to Councilman Joaquin Lim, the parties will release a joint statement on Thursday, and before that no one was allowed to disclose details of the settlement. He said there was a confidentiality agreement. Joaquin voted no for the settlement.

It is not easy for NFL to get approvals from the Walnut city. Walnut sued Industry over plans for an $800 million venue in March and claimed that the neighboring city approved the project without sufficiently reviewing its environmental impact.
